MCO + Nova rant
A rant about MCO and Nova is pretty common. It’s about time we had another one.
Perhaps MCO is gonna die later this year, considering there is nothing new. Timebomb’s villager is still missing as well. Then again, nobody gives a crap about TB anyways. Also, all the “new” minigames just die after a week or so anyway. They’d be better suited as “/events” done occasionally. On Nova (where most of the “new-ness” is put), it had more than 100 players before the rebrand. Now we’re lucky to get above 70. It went from 5 to 2 games. HG/SG, Skywars, Prison, Parkour and Speedrun were the original, and now it’s only “District” (Prison) and “Destiny” (Factions). Maybe it’d get more players if Skywars was added back. Or, perhaps, maybe Spaceblock should have stayed with Nova so it could keep itself alive. Nova, like Mco, is slowly dying. Eventually, players will get bored of Prison and Factions. It’s already at around 30 players.
Really though, one of the larger problems of both servers are the staff members. Randies on MCO and Nova get accepted when barely anyone (if anyone at all) knows who they are. They generally don’t do so well with their jobs, either. Various people “leave and come back” when they can’t be arsed to make up their mind on whether they should stay or leave. Another issue with staff members is that some of them stay on a certain server, and do not switch. For example, SlyPvP_ was only ever on pvpkits. A lot of them mess about in the “/event” server as well. There is a video of this somewhere by Zack__Ryder (RonaldPinkiePie). On Nova, there are also power hungry people. Most of them don’t wind up as staff, but there’s still some holes in their quality filter. For example, Lozo. Why was he the Discord manager? I’d guess that at least 30% of his messages there were picking fights. He also managed TheNova’s twitter, which was dead for the entire duration of his management. There’s also the topic of an “Instagram” for Nova, which was barely even considered by the rest of the staff team even though he saw it as 100% official.
In the staff team is a shockingly poor display of “managers,” who could honestly barely even call themselves by that title. On MCO, one of the actual decent managers was Amber. However, the current server “manager” is Joshb_. He was mod, then factions manager. Giving him factions manager was a mistake. A big mistake. First of all, he has terrible grammar. The rules board at factions was full of mistakes and spelling errors. Additionally, MCO Factions was griefed. Why? He didn’t put world guard on the spawn. It’s honestly shocking that he got server manager. Another bad manager is MrDerpling. He is the parkour manager, and the quality of maps has gone down since the previous manager, Echo/Quin left. This is said here:

It also says the map standards have gone down, which is probably the reason why Parkour is so bad now. The Bee map, which was apparently removed, was a terrible map; guess who it was made by: MrDerpling. On Nova, Lozo was terrible for a manager. This was explained in the paragraph above.
Let’s talk about the forum and it’s staff. The MCO forum recently got four forum mods: Amber, Leii, Grassasssin, and Kalma. The forum is pretty bad. Suggestions, that are hardly posted, are just ignored. Kalma, as forum staff now, does not know what he’s doing. It can be shown here:

This case was solved, and there is proof on this wall: http://www.mcorigins.com/profile/9520560
Most of the moderators on MCO do not go on the forums (or read the forum rules) and this lead to an issue a few months ago with Superd’s 1000th post “celebration”. Moldy_Vort, who was a trial mod, locked the thread because it was considered a “wall post” to him. He never went on the forums before he got staff, so he didn’t know. Nova’s forums don’t have as many of these issues, on account of the fact that a much lower amount of users visit it compared to MCO; but they do still exist. The most notable of these users is Alleno (who even had an alternate made against him, onellA), as well as many others who will go unnamed here. Most of the new people on Nova’s forums can’t even be bothered to read the rules (or what section they’re in), which leads to mods having to warn/ban them and make the staff appear somewhat trigger-happy. On both servers, the forums and server are full of 9 year old children that don’t understand what rules are.
For 3 months, MCO had kept its Christmas spawn. This is way too long, 3 months is enough for the build team to make a spawn. The current spawn is one of the older spawns. The build team has changed, and it’s terrible now. 8.0 will arrive soon, after over 3 months of waiting.
On MCO, there has been numerous occasions where staff broke the rules, and got away with it. The earliest one I can think of is Dubehh, the developer of MCO, posting a video in response to Jalapeno_’s post about religion. It was a video titled “Jesus Christ is my nigga” which broke the rules for obvious reasons. One of the latest ones was with staff warning someone, BUT not actually contributing to a thread, which means it is off topic. Often, staff also double post without realizing. Once, on MCO there was drama about the “Luckyhit kit” in PVPkits being too op, by SlyPVP. This ended with Sly ranting about how he got a warning point, and that “staff shouldn’t get warning points”.
Owners of both MCO and Nova are terrible. Both of the servers hardly update, and they only survive because of 9 year old children using their mother’s credit card. MCO seems to sustain itself only on TNT’s advertising post-videos, which is a large reason why Nova is doing so badly. ExplodingTNT also only “contributes” to MCO by posting the ip at the end of his “hilarious” machinimas. He only seems to login to refresh the Premium Enjin payment on either site.
Lastly, some of the players on either server are just immature. They should grow up and they tend to call themselves “memesters.” They only ever post negative comments that aren’t constructive at all. Some of the “memesters” on MCO are even staff (Superd, for example). It’s honestly shocking that these kinds of people are even considered to be held this high. A few months ago, one of them was permanently banned. Then, a day later, unbanned. And then banned again a few weeks later.
Some of you need to start taking what you do seriously. Make TNT’s network great again. There’s also been a lot of requests to merge the two servers, as they both have a low population.
